I love Capes...

Is there nothing more fabulous than a cape? I think not...

There is something dramatic about having a sheath of fabric trailing from the shoulder billowing in your wake.
It adds a certain sense of mystery while also allowing a fabulous outfit to be seen underneath.
Is there any wonder the Big Bad Wolf had it in for Red Riding Hood? He wasn't hungry, he just wanted her cape.

One of the original reasons for the design was so ladies could protect their garments without having the delicate fabrics and embellishments of the dress be crushed by the weight of a jacket. They would fasten at the neck and freely flow over any variety of couture underneath.
These days capes come any which way. Just over the shoulder, to the waist, or to the floor (also known as a cloak), knitted, sheer, pleated, layered, weatherproofed, hooded, collared, sculptural, embellished.....I love capes.

Fashion Calendar

I dont know about you, but my calender fills up rather quickly. I cant even afford to pencil in anymore, I have had to resort to footnotes in my diary....true story.

But lets face it, between the endless champagne brunches, the store launches, the line lunches, the career crashes and the burn of the treadmill, its easy to forget the important dates.

Michelle Harper, Who are you?

After trawling the net looking for fashion worthy pictures from the CFDA awards (I tell you, it was harder than it looked) I stumbled upon this amazing photo of Iris Apfel being outweighed by her accessories along with this fabulous woman in a sculptural red number. I later found out this was Michelle Harper...which still meant nothing to me.

I quickly googled her name, she was far too fabulous to be unknown. I was completely swamped with photo after photo of amazing outfit but so little information on the woman herself. I did however find out the following-

Born in Columbia (in 1978), but was raised in New York and Europe.
She attended the Lycée Français de New York, the Spence school, Aiglon College in Switzerland, and NYU’s fine arts program.
Michelle's past work experience includes interning and employment at the MoMA, Malborough Gallery, MUSE Film and Television, and VMS Associates.
She has spent time working at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, and views Martha the perfect role model. (we were separated at birth much?)
Michelle is the co-founder of a multi-million dollar multi brand cosmetics holding company, CB LLC
She is a muse to designer Victor de Souza
Michelle is passionate about Philanthropy
She is a constant fixture on the New York social scene

Intrigue turned to jealousy as I realised this bitch is essentially living the life I want...
